Our journey started with building two gardens of approximately 4000 sq. ft. at Crofton Library. The gardens slowly took shape and was converted it to irrigable land. We installed fencing and put down soil and compost to grow, water, and plant seedlings. FarmUnity continues to build community farming initiatives and promote sustainable agriculture programs to inspire healthier, self-sufficient communities.
We have also constructed a greenhouse at the Crofton Library, serving as an educational hub for sustainable farming practices. It also teaches the kids who come to library to learn how the vegetables are grown from seeds.
In Spring 2024, we will expand our urban gardening programs to local elementary and high schools, building sustainable school gardens to teach students about organic farming, sustainability, and food security. We are proud to offer a variety of services that help people grow their own food, learn about sustainable farming practices, and connect with other like-minded individuals.
We are a Non-Profit 501c3 organization our gardens grow tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis, eggplants, cucumbers, basil, cilantro, Okra, potatoes, cabbage, spinach, lettuce, carrots, broccoli , pumpkins, watermelon, and cantaloupe, which are distributed to a clinic that helps economically impoverished Medicaid patients (around 700 individuals). These individuals have the opportunity to add free homegrown, nutritious, and chemical-free produce to their diets. Produce is also available weekly inside the library lobby for any patrons to take for free.
FARMUNITY is born out of love to connect people as they grow food together. Unity achieved through sustainable farming!
FarmUnity is a non-profit 501c3 organization that encourages cultivating initiatives. It is a space where the young and the old can step out of their homes to experience a sense of belonging. Don’t just share a vegetable garden. Share the joy of being a family!
We produce highly nutritious and chemical-free fruits and vegetables. They are distributed to local clinics, libraries, schools etc. A journey that started with 4,000 sq. ft. of land at Crofton Library has grown into many gardens, expanding to empower neighborhoods with resources, education, and tools.
